Start with the component’s role

Before choosing a material, identify whether the element is structural, a covering, a display or a brand feature. Review dimensions, attached items, duration and venue conditions. One material rarely serves every role, and several may be combined for performance and appearance.

Timber, boards and coverings

Joinery can form walls, counters, displays and bespoke components. Board type, thickness, covering, edges and finish should be considered with weight, joints and expected conditions. An appropriate sample helps where color or texture is important to the brand.

Metal frames and support details

Metal frames and supports are selected according to design, loads and fixing methods. Competent specialists review sections, connections and required treatment; appearance alone does not establish structural suitability. Coordinate interfaces with coverings, electrical services and displays before fabrication.

Acrylic and printed graphics

Acrylic can be considered for brand and display features, subject to color, transparency, thickness, edge and fixing requirements. Printed graphics need compatibility between substrate, receiving surface, artwork size and viewing position. Illuminated elements also require light distribution and maintenance access review.

Materials and repeat use

For recurring participation, discuss dismantling, packing, protection and storage early. Useful life depends on condition after transport and installation and adaptability to the next venue. Consider maintenance and replacement graphics rather than assuming the most expensive material is always best.

What to approve before production

The scope should state materials, finishes, required samples and installation details. Review current organizer requirements and any requested technical documentation before manufacturing. Ask Stage Up to compare alternatives against your drawings, duration of use and budget.
